Armenian MP: Key details of Second Karabakh War defeat to remain hidden
In Armenia, the commission tasked with investigating the circumstances surrounding the 44-day Second Karabakh War has concluded its work and finalized a report.
Andranik Kocharyan, head of the commission, stated in an interview with Armenia's public television that he plans to request Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan to hold a closed session in October to present the report and determine its confidentiality, Caliber.Az reports.
Kocharyan mentioned that the commission had also prepared a comprehensive address that details all the documented findings.
"We will explain the reasons for our defeat. These causes are varied, and all that could be documented has been included in the report," Kocharyan explained.
He emphasized that while certain elements could not be fully documented, the report outlines mechanisms for further investigation by the appropriate authorities.
The public will only have partial access to the report due to the presence of highly confidential information. Kocharyan noted that many documents were submitted and examined during the investigation.
The commission was established in February 2022 at the initiative of the ruling "Civil Contract" faction and extended its mandate on May 3, 2023. Throughout its work, the commission summoned key officials responsible for Armenia’s defence and foreign policy during and prior to the 2020 war.
