Armenian officials skip meeting of CSTO Military Committee
The Armenian officials have not taken part in the meeting of the Military Committee on the development of military cooperation among the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) member states.
The 23rd video conference meeting was held under the leadership of Russian First Deputy Defence Minister, Army General Valery Gerasimov on April 12, Caliber.Az reports citing the CSTO Joint Staff.
Chief of the General Staff of the Belarus Armed Forces, First Deputy Defence Minister of Belarus Viktor Gulevich, First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Kazakh Armed Forces Nurlan Karbenov, Chief of the General Staff of the Kyrgyz Armed Forces, Kyrgyz First Deputy Defence Minister Ruslan Mukambetov, Chief of the General Staff of the Tajik Armed Forces, Tajik First Deputy Defence Minister Emomali Sobirzoda were involved in the meeting.
Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov, CSTO Deputy Secretary General Taalatbek Masadykov, representatives of the defence ministries of the CSTO member states, the Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat were also involved in the meeting.
The challenges and threats to military security were discussed during the meeting.
The members of the Military Committee considered the air defence issues in the Central Asia and the further development of the Collective Aviation Forces of the CSTO.
