Armenian PM distrusts even his closest people "Hraparak" sums up results of "Civil Contract" congress

01 November 2022 13:43

Big disagreements have been observed in Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party.

That’s why, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made a decision to head the Board of Directors (Suren Papikyan became the head of the board during the last elections), Caliber.Az reports citing Yerevan’s Hraparak newspaper.

The party members were surprised by Pashinyan's decision. The fact is that Defence Minister Suren Papikyan and Vice Mayor Tigran Avinyan were struggling for the post.

"Many people expected that, according to tradition, Pashinyan would refuse to head the board, but this did not happen. The party members think that he does not trust even the closest people and decided to personally manage the party and stop all possible conspiracies against him", the newspaper wrote.

According to the newspaper, the board was formed according to Pashinyan's preferences. Great internal work was carried out to punish some members of the party and encourage others.

"It is noteworthy that Minister of Defence Suren Papikyan, Vice Speaker Ruben Rubinyan and Vice Mayor of Yerevan Tigran Avinyan hold the first positions according to the results of the voting of party members, therefore they became members of the board, but Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan did not even get into the board and held the position below 15. After the formation of the party in 2015, the Board of Directors was headed by Arayik Harutyunyan, Sasun Mikaelyan and Suren Papikyan", the newspaper reports.
