Armenian Speaker stands ready to visit Baku "at a convenient moment"
Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan has expressed readiness to visit Azerbaijan when the time is right.
Simonyan made the remarks while speaking to journalists in parliament, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“I am ready to travel to Azerbaijan at a convenient moment. I also intend to invite my counterpart to Armenia in some format,” he said.
When asked whether he had received an invitation to visit Azerbaijan, Simonyan replied that he had not, but would consider it if one were extended.
Simonyan noted that Azerbaijan’s decision not to participate in the European Political Community (EPC) summit in Yerevan in May 2026 is not connected to Armenia.
Earlier, Simonyan said he did not rule out the possibility of reciprocal high-level visits between Yerevan and Baku.
Simonyan's remarks reflect ongoing efforts to build confidence between Yerevan and Baku following the initialling of a peace agreement in August 2025, which includes commitments to border delimitation and regional connectivity.
