Azerbaijan shares child online safety experience at Ankara conference
Azerbaijan has presented its experience in protecting children in the digital environment at an international conference held in Ankara.
During the event called International Policy and Practice Exchange on Child Protection in the Digital Environment, the talks focused on risks children face online and measures to prevent them, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
At the conference, Jeyran Rahmatullayeva, head of the office of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, outlined the online threats.
She noted that recent studies show attempts to completely shield children from online risks, as well as strict parental control, do not produce the expected results.
Instead, parents and teachers are encouraged to adopt a “safe contact” approach, allowing children to explore the digital environment within supportive frameworks through guided learning and reflection.
The panel discussion also highlighted Azerbaijan’s efforts in this area, including national strategies on information and cybersecurity, digital development, and measures to protect children from harmful content, such as age-based content classification.
