Azerbaijan celebrates the inauguration of the Astara railway transport terminal, a significant component of the North-South international transport corridor.

Azerbaijan Railways CJSC's press service, cited by Caliber.Az, confirms the successful completion of reconstruction efforts on the freight yard in Astara district to expedite cargo transhipment along the corridor.

The Astara Customs Department of the State Customs Committee has already organised customs control on this territory.

One of the main advantages of the terminal is the application of favourable tariffs for cargo owners for the transportation and transhipment of accepted cargo.

The commissioning of the Astara terminal is expected to boost transit traffic along the North-South route by 10-15% by year's end, further solidifying Azerbaijan's pivotal role in regional transportation networks.
