Azerbaijan bids farewell to Israeli ambassador as talks highlight expanding ties
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with outgoing Israeli Ambassador George Deek, marking the conclusion of the diplomat’s six-year tenure in Azerbaijan.
The meeting served as an opportunity to reflect on the evolution of Azerbaijan-Israel relations and discuss future avenues for bilateral cooperation, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry.
Minister Bayramov extended his gratitude to Ambassador Deek for his “fruitful work” during his diplomatic mission and wished him continued success in his future endeavors.
The discussions covered a wide range of topics, including the state of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, as well as regional developments. Both sides emphasized the significant potential for expanding collaboration across various sectors, including politics, trade and economics, energy, investment, and humanitarian affairs.
Minister Bayramov expressed particular concern regarding the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, reiterating Azerbaijan’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region. “Azerbaijan, which supports the establishment of peace and stability in the region, is always ready to contribute to the process,” he stated.
Ambassador Deek expressed his appreciation for the support he received during his mission in Baku and remarked on the strong relations cultivated between the two nations during his tenure. “I will always remember my six-year work as Israel's ambassador to Azerbaijan,” he said.
The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on additional matters of mutual interest, underscoring the enduring strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Israel.
