Azerbaijan boosts gas deliveries to Europe in early 2026
Exports of natural gas from Azerbaijan to the European Union rose by 3% year-on-year in the first half of 2026, equivalent to an increase of 0.2 billion cubic meters, according to a report by the International Energy Agency (IEA), cited by Azerbaijani media.
The report also showed that pipeline gas supplies from North Africa to the EU increased by 5%, or 0.8 billion cubic meters, over the same period.
Russian pipeline gas exports to the bloc likewise rose by 5% year-on-year, up 0.4 billion cubic meters, the IEA said, noting that Russia accounted for about 8% of Europe’s gas demand in the first six months of the year.
The figures highlight modest growth in pipeline imports as Europe continues to diversify supply sources.
Azerbaijani gas deliveries to Europe via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) began on December 31, 2020.
