Azerbaijan calls on Armenia to remove obstacles to peace at OSCE Parliamentary Assembly
Gaya Mammadov, Head of the Azerbaijani Delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, has called on Armenia to remove all impediments to peace.
Speaking at the winter session of the OSCE PA, Mammadov emphasized the need to end double standards and the selective application of international law, Caliber.Az reports.
He stressed that exploiting human rights issues for political gain is unacceptable, as is ignoring the right of Azerbaijanis who were victims of ethnic cleansing by Armenia to return to their homes.
Mammadov reminded the assembly that Armenia had destroyed nearly 1,000 Azerbaijani settlements and left over 3 million landmines and unexploded ordnance on Azerbaijani territory, causing damages amounting to $150 billion.
Despite this, he noted that the aggressor state continues to receive various forms of financial support, which it misuses for military purposes, while Azerbaijan gets no assistance.
He further criticized the attempts to artificially revive the OSCE Minsk Group, which he claimed aimed to reignite conflict rather than promote peace. Mammadov highlighted that all progress in normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia has been achieved through bilateral discussions.
Azerbaijan remains committed to resolving outstanding issues through goodwill and bilateral efforts, adding that Armenia must also show political will and eliminate all obstacles to peace.
