Azerbaijan condemns deadly mosque attack in Iran
Azerbaijan has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a major holy site in Iran on October 26, killing at least 15 people and wounding dozens.
"We deplore the terrorist attack on the Shah Cheragh Mosque in Shiraz, Iran. We express our sincere condolences to the families of the victims, and we hope for a speedy recovery of the victims. As a state faced with terrorism, Azerbaijan strongly condemns all its forms and manifestations," Caliber.Az quotes the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry as saying on Twitter.
At least 15 people have been killed and 40 others injured in an attack on a Shia religious shrine in the southern Iranian city of Shiraz, according to the country’s state media agency, IRNA.
The report said that the attack, which took place at the Shah Cheragh Shrine early on October 27 evening, was carried out by three armed men who entered the shrine.
On October 26, the Iranian state media agency IRNA reported that at least 15 people had been killed and 40 others injured in an attack on a Shia religious shrine in the southern Iranian city of Shiraz.
The report said that the attack, which took place at the Shah Cheragh Shrine on October 26 evening, was carried out by three armed men who entered the shrine. Two of the attackers are reported to be caught, with one still on the run.
Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL/ISIS) claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement on their telegram channel.
