The Azerbaijani Institute of Archeology, Ethnography and Anthropology is conducting archaeological excavations on the territory near the Khudutepe monument in Chemenli village of the Jalilabad district.
Leading researcher of the Institute, Doctor of Philosophy in History, archaeologist Anar Aghalarzade, who noted that significant samples of material culture of the Middle Ages were found in the upper layer of the multi-layered monument during excavations, is in charge of archaeological work, Report informs.
The archaeologist noted that in particular, glazed and unglazed ceramics, fire pits and fragments of a tandoor (large urn-shaped oven) were found.
Aghalarzade added that the name of Sultan Abu Said Bahadur Khan (1305-1335), the ninth ruler of the Hulaguids, was minted on a copper coin found on the territory near the monument.
