Azerbaijan, EU resume talks on new bilateral agreement
Azerbaijan and the European Union have officially resumed negotiations on a new bilateral agreement after largely finalising the text of their “Partnership Priorities,” the EU’s ambassador to Azerbaijan said.
Mariana Kuyundzic told Azerbaijani media that both sides have completed preliminary coordination of the document, which outlines key areas of cooperation, and have moved forward with formal talks on a broader partnership framework.
The European Union aims to approve the “Partnership Priorities” by the end of 2026.
“The document will be sent to Brussels, after which a lengthy approval procedure will follow, but we expect to complete this process by the end of the current year,” Kuyundzic said.
She added that negotiations on the partnership agreement are already underway, describing the document as a comprehensive framework that will require time to finalise.
“As with any framework agreement, this is a normal negotiation process,” she said.
