Azerbaijan expands Southeast Asia outreach in Cambodia visit PHOTO

Azerbaijan and Cambodia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation during a high-level diplomatic visit to Phnom Penh by Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov on July 21.

The visit included the fourth round of political consultations between the two countries' foreign ministries, Caliber.Az has learned from Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.

Discussions focused on the current state of Azerbaijani-Cambodian relations and explored opportunities for expanding cooperation across a range of sectors, including political dialogue, economic collaboration, humanitarian engagement, and coordination within international platforms.

Particular attention was given to interaction within multilateral organisations such as the Non-Aligned Movement and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), where Cambodia is an active member.

Deputy Minister Mammadov also briefed the Cambodian side on key regional developments, including Azerbaijan’s efforts in demining territories recently liberated from occupation and ongoing reconstruction and infrastructure projects in those areas.

In addition to the intergovernmental talks, Mammadov met with several Cambodian officials, engaged with representatives of the local media, and held a gathering with Cambodian alumni who studied in Baku during the 1980s and 1990s.

The visit concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Cambodia in the field of tourism.
