A high-level ministerial meeting in Budapest has produced major steps forward on the Green Energy Corridor, Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov announced in a post on X.
According to Shahbazov, the four countries agreed to finalise the project’s feasibility study by the end of March. The next phase will involve implementing tasks assigned to the Green Energy Corridor Energy Company (GECO), which is responsible for driving the project’s development, Caliber.Az reports.

He said the ministers also reached an understanding on strengthening coordination between the Green Energy Corridor initiative and the Black Sea Submarine Cable project. The goal, he noted, is to explore and develop “technical and strategic synergies to increase cross-border transmission capacity and regional energy connectivity.”
To support this effort, a new Working Group composed of deputy ministers and GECO representatives has been mandated to draft proposals and submit them at the next ministerial meeting.
The Green Energy Corridor project aims to create a major renewable energy transmission route from the South Caucasus to Europe, positioning the participating countries as key players in regional energy transition and connectivity.
