Azerbaijan, Greece pledge closer cooperation across economy, energy, culture
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, welcomed the newly appointed Ambassador of Greece to the country, Maria Papakonstantinou, in a meeting aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation.
Ambassador Papakonstantinou presented a copy of her credentials to Minister Bayramov. The minister extended his congratulations on her appointment and wished her success in her diplomatic endeavors, Caliber.Az reports, citing Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.
During their discussions, the sides exchanged views on the current state of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Greece, as well as on broader regional and international developments.
The officials underscored that sustained dialogue and interactions between heads of state and government form a strong foundation for Azerbaijani-Greek relations while actively fostering further collaboration. They emphasized the significance of continuous political dialogue, including political and consular consultations between the respective foreign ministries.
The meeting also explored avenues for cooperation across multiple sectors, including economy, trade, investment, traditional and renewable energy, transport and transit, shipping, agriculture, tourism, and culture. The parties highlighted the importance of the joint commission on economic, industrial, and technological cooperation, as well as the value of collaboration within international and regional frameworks built on mutual trust and respect for each nation’s legitimate interests.
FM Bayramov briefed Ambassador Papakonstantinou on the post-conflict regional situation, emerging realities, and the ongoing process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. In response, Ambassador Papakonstantinou expressed her appreciation for the reception and pledged to actively contribute to the advancement of Azerbaijani-Greek relations.
