Azerbaijan increases carbamide supplies to foreign markets
In the first quarter of 2022, the volume of exports by the SOCAR Carbamide plant to foreign markets increased by 8 times from the same period of 2021.
At the same time, the income generated by the exports grew by 33 times, First Vice President of the Azerbaijan’s state oil company, SOCAR, Rovshan Najaf wrote on his Facebook page, Report informs.
The increase contributed to the balance of foreign trade turnover of Azerbaijan, kicking it up to $93 million, according to him. SOCAR Carbamide marketed 53,400 tonnes of carbamide in the domestic market, which is 224 percent more than in the same period last year
Carbamide (nitrogen fertilizer) is produced in Azerbaijan at the SOCAR Carbamide plant located in the Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park. The plant was put into operation on January 16, 2019. The plant’s production capacity is 650,000-660,000 tonnes of carbamide per year, and it uses 435 million cubic meters of natural gas annually for churning out end product. As much as 70 per cent of the production volume is supplied to the overseas markets.
