Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with his Iranian counterpart, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, in both bilateral and extended-format talks to review the current agenda and explore avenues for deepening cooperation between the two countries.
According to a statement on X by the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan, the discussions “underscored the current agenda and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran rooted in good neighbourly relations and mutual respect.”
The ministers highlighted “the robust institutional frameworks from political consultations to the Joint State Commission and extensive legal treaty base that provide solid architecture for a stable and forward-looking bilateral relationship which Azerbaijan and Iran are committed to strengthening further.”
The talks explored ways to enhance economic and trade cooperation, with particular focus on the transport and logistics sector, including the International North-South Transport Corridor and connectivity projects between the East Zangezur Economic Region and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan.
Humanitarian cooperation was also addressed, with emphasis on “increased flights between Baku–Tehran/Tabriz, collaboration in education, culture and tourism dimensions.”
The ministers exchanged views on cooperation within international organisations such as the UN, NAM and OIC, as well as on the Azerbaijan–Armenia normalisation process and post-conflict reconstruction efforts in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories.
