Azerbaijan joins SCO Women's Forum in China's Qingdao
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Women's Forum on "Women's Economic Empowerment through Digitalisation" is currently underway in Qingdao, Shandong Province, China.
Bahar Muradova, Chairwoman of the State Committee on Family, Women, and Children Issues, is representing Azerbaijan at the event, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The forum's official opening ceremony, scheduled for 11 September, will feature addresses from prominent women leaders of SCO member states, Chinese officials, the head of the All-China Women’s Federation, and the SCO Secretary General. Delegates from 26 countries will be in attendance.
Established in 2001, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization comprises 10 permanent members (Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, India, Iran, and Belarus), 2 observer members (Afghanistan and Mongolia), and 14 dialogue partners, including Azerbaijan, Türkiye, the UAE, Bahrain, Armenia, Cambodia, Egypt, Qatar, Kuwait, the Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, and Sri Lanka.
