Azerbaijan-Latvia Strategic Dialogue holds third session in Riga
The third session of the Azerbaijan-Latvia Strategic Dialogue took place in Riga, Latvia's capital.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told APA that Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev led the Azerbaijani delegation, while the Latvian delegation was headed by Deputy State Secretary of the Foreign Ministry, Political Director Anžejs Vilumsons.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the strategic partnership rooted in traditional friendship and mutual trust between the two countries. They explored ways to strengthen this partnership, including the current state and prospects of cooperation in political, economic, transport, and humanitarian sectors.
The importance of continuing high-level mutual visits and holding regular sessions of the Strategic Dialogue and the Intergovernmental Commission was emphasized. Discussions also covered international issues of mutual interest and the expansion of cooperation in multilateral formats.
The Latvian side was briefed on preparations for the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will be hosted by Azerbaijan in November 2024, and the related tasks ahead.
