Azerbaijan, Morocco strengthen economic ties: trade grows by 56%
Trade between Azerbaijan and Morocco has experienced a remarkable boost in the first two months of 2025, with the volume increasing by 56% compared to the same period in 2024, according to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.
This surge highlights the growing strength of bilateral economic relations between the two nations, Caliber.Az reports, citing Morocco World News.
This uptick in trade is in line with commitments made during the second session of the Morocco-Azerbaijan Joint Commission, which was held in Rabat in November 2023. The meeting, co-chaired by Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, resulted in several agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation in strategic areas such as energy, logistics, and other key sectors.
The rise in trade volume reflects the increasing complementarity between the markets of both countries. This is attributed to ongoing efforts by government institutions and business leaders to forge stronger partnerships and diversify their economic collaboration.
In addition to the increase in trade, the two nations have also taken steps to deepen their ties through a mutual visa exemption agreement. The policy allows citizens of both countries to travel for short stays without the need for a visa, further boosting tourism, business exchanges, and cultural ties between Azerbaijan and Morocco.
During a recent visit to Morocco, Fuad Muradov, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Committee for Work with the Diaspora, praised Morocco’s humanitarian approach to migration, as well as King Mohammed VI’s policies regarding both the Moroccan diaspora and migrants in general. Muradov emphasized the importance of these policies in fostering stronger relations and cooperation.
