Azerbaijan not to be blamed for Armenia's mistakes Human rights activist says
Human rights activist Vardan Harutyunyan has said that Azerbaijan should not be blamed for the mistakes of Armenia.
"If we look back at our past, we will see that we lived with Azerbaijanis for a very long time and maybe there were more peaceful times than wars. It's not that there were, it's just the way it is. So we have to take into account that this people are here, and regardless of our attitude towards them and their attitude towards us, we need to have a long-term plan. And to have this long-term plan, we must also have a short-term plan, and this short-term plan is to reach an agreement as soon as possible," Harutyunyan told Armenian media, Caliber.Az reports.
“You know, people will definitely talk to each other, it is obvious not only in the case of us, but also in Azerbaijan. And in general, all neighboring nations, living in the neighborhood for centuries, cooperated with each other and lived together. Of course, from time to time there are violations of social rules, but then everything is back to normal.
How many times have I said, and I will say it again, that we have lost much time. We've lost a huge period of time since 1998 and worse, we've lost three years starting from 2020. If after November 2020, in 2021, in mid-2022, we could find the edges of cooperation, the edges of agreement, be realistic, not pin our hopes on outsiders and not become a prey and a plaything, it is very possible that we would have gone for these agreements with our neighbors. At that time we had completely different positions and opportunities, we lost everything, and we lost because of our mistakes. There is nothing to Azerbaijan for, it did everything using its capabilities," the human rights activist noted.
