Azerbaijan, Pakistan explore enhanced cooperation in key areas
Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of Pakistan, to discuss the future of bilateral and multilateral relations between the two nations.
The talks focused on a range of cooperative initiatives, including regional partnerships, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
The officials highlighted the significance of high-level mutual visits between the leaders and foreign ministers of both countries, which have fostered deeper friendly and brotherly ties. They underscored the importance of advancing collaboration in political, economic, trade, high technology, defence, and security sectors.
The ministers also noted the value of mutual support in various multilateral frameworks, such as the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. They acknowledged Pakistan's election as a member of the UN Security Council for 2025-2026 as a pivotal development.
The meeting also presented an opportunity to discuss potential interactions between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Pakistan during the upcoming 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, emphasizing the event's role as a platform for enhanced cooperation.
Additional bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest were also addressed during the discussions.
