Azerbaijan, Pakistan to join forces to tackle corruption
Pakistan plans to sign a memorandum of understanding with Azerbaijan in the field of anti-corruption cooperation, said Sohail Nasir, Deputy Chairman of Pakistan's National Accountability Bureau.
"Pakistan is ready to sign a memorandum of understanding with Azerbaijan, as we must go hand in hand in the fight against corruption," he told journalists, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
According to Nasir, the agreement will pave the way for the two countries to organise seminars, training programs, capacity-building initiatives, and joint educational activities.
He emphasised that both Azerbaijan and Pakistan stand to benefit significantly from this collaboration.
For the record, the National Accountability Bureau of Pakistan is the country’s apex anti-corruption agency, responsible for investigating and prosecuting cases of financial misconduct, abuse of power, and embezzlement. Azerbaijan’s anti-corruption efforts are led by the Anti-Corruption Directorate under the General Prosecutor’s Office, which also coordinates with international organisations such as the UN and the OECD.
