Azerbaijan promotes Baku security forum at UN counterterrorism conference PHOTO
Azerbaijan has promoted the Baku Security Forum at a United Nations counterterrorism conference in New York, highlighting efforts to expand international cooperation among security and intelligence agencies.
The Fourth Conference of Heads of Counterterrorism Agencies of UN Member States was held on June 29–30 at UN Headquarters as part of the Fourth UN Counter-Terrorism Week. The event focused on reviewing the implementation of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, Caliber.Az reports.
According to Azerbaijan's State Security Service, the country was represented by a delegation of officials from the State Security Service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On June 29, Azerbaijan hosted a reception and presentation titled "Strengthening International Cooperation in the Fight Against Terrorism: Prospects for the Baku Security Forum." Azerbaijan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Tofig Musaev, addressed participants during the event.
Hasan Mansurov, deputy head of the State Security Service, presented the Baku Security Forum and announced the establishment of its permanent secretariat.
According to Mansurov, the forum currently brings together more than 150 security and intelligence agencies from over 100 countries. He said work is continuing on the legal and institutional development of the secretariat with the aim of transforming it into an international organisation.
