Azerbaijan reinforces diplomatic security, global presence with boosted budget, says lawmaker
Samad Seyidov, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament’s Committee on International Relations and Interparliamentary Ties, has spoken about challenges in financing Azerbaijan’s foreign diplomatic missions.
At a parliamentary meeting discussing the draft state budget for 2025, Seyidov noted that many long-standing financial problems faced by personnel at embassies and consulates had been resolved, thanks to a new system now being implemented, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
He emphasized that the newly introduced system aims to increase funding year after year.
“We are witnessing a growing budget dedicated to international relations, which is a positive development. The budget for diplomatic missions and the efforts to raise global awareness of Azerbaijan’s realities are sufficient. The government is responding to the intricate and double-faced policies directed against us,” the MP said.
The chairman also revealed that the Parliament would once again discuss and adopt the law "On Diplomatic Service", which would further reflect these new funding practices.
He added that the financial resources allocated for ensuring the high security of diplomatic missions and promoting Azerbaijan's image abroad had been strengthened.
Seyidov concluded by linking Azerbaijan's foreign policy success to the country’s growing economic stature, stating that the robust organization of the nation’s foreign relations is directly tied to the rise of Azerbaijan’s economy.
