Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry warns against Armenia-planted landmine danger

05 February 2024 09:12

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry has made a post on its X account saying the threat of mines planted by Armenia is more topical than ever before.

"The inability of partners to force Armenia to eliminate this threat leads to an increase in the number of casualties and injuries.

Today, a civilian was seriously injured in an explosion, his leg was amputated," the post reads, Caliber.Az reports.

The post notes that 343 people have become victims of mines since November 2020.

Alizade Hasanali Shahin oglu, born in 2001, a resident of the village of Garadaghli district, was blown up by a mine while grazing animals.

On February 4, at approximately 18:00, the Azerbaijani police received information about a mine explosion in the village of Giziloba, Tartar region.

He was wounded in the leg. The citizen was evacuated to the hospital by police officers.

The left foot of a mine victim in Tartar was amputated, the press service of the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) said.

The victim was wounded as a result of a mine explosion near the former line of contact.

The left leg, injured as a result of an anti-personnel mine explosion while grazing cattle in an unmined area, was amputated below the ankle, and the right leg received a shrapnel wound.
