Azerbaijan's Independence Day celebrated in Canadian parliament PHOTO
A festive event was held in the Canadian Parliament to celebrate Azerbaijan's Independence Day, organized jointly by the Vatan (Fatherland) Azerbaijan Art and Culture Centre and Nigar Aliyeva, founder of the Karabakh Azerbaijani Language School in Ottawa.
The event was attended by members of the Canadian Parliament, including Chandra Arya and Yasir Naqvi, representatives from the Canadian Foreign Ministry, members of the Azerbaijani Diaspora, including the Karabakh School in Ottawa and the Global Heritage Organisation of Qizilbash, employees of the State Committee for Work with the Azerbaijani Diaspora, and members of various other communities, as informed by Report.
The celebration began with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Canada, performed by Hasan Enami, a renowned tenor, Honored Artist of Azerbaijan, and winner of the Presidential Award.
Lalin Hasanova, Head of the Azerbaijani Art and Culture Centre Vatan and Executive Director of the House of Azerbaijan in Toronto, along with Salhat Abbasova, Head of the Department of the State Committee, expressed gratitude to the guests and particularly to Chandra Arya for his significant role in organizing the event. They also thanked the Azerbaijani community in Canada for coming together to celebrate this important date in Azerbaijan's history.
Chandra Arya highlighted the increasing involvement of the Azerbaijani community in Canada's public and cultural life, as well as the high level of religious tolerance and multicultural values in Azerbaijan.
The event also featured a music and dance performance by students of the My Azerbaijan School.
