Azerbaijan’s sports minister attends global anti-doping meetings in India
The Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sports, Farid Gayibov, visited India in his capacity as Vice President of the 9th session of the Conference of the Parties to the International Convention against Doping in Sport (COP9).
During the visit, he attended the joint meeting of the COP9 Bureau in New Delhi, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He also attended the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between NADA India and the Delhi National Law University.
As part of the visit, Gayibov met with Mansukh Mandaviya, India's Minister of Health and Family Welfare, as well as with Raksha Nikhil Khadse, the Indian Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports. During these meetings, they discussed current relations and explored opportunities for further cooperation between the two countries.
India plays host to two major international gatherings on September 17-18, focusing on the global fight against doping in sports. The events include the 2nd Formal Meeting of the COP9 Bureau and the 3rd Formal Meeting of the Fund Approval Committee, both held under the framework of the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport.
These meetings aim to strengthen global cooperation and strategies in the battle against doping in sports. Delegates from nations such as Azerbaijan, France, Italy, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore will attend, alongside senior UNESCO officials. High-profile dignitaries expected include Farid Gayibov, Minister of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan, and Abdulaziz Almasaed, Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister for Sport and Youth Affairs.
The meetings, hosted by India’s Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, will focus on global anti-doping strategies, promoting integrity in sports, and fostering international collaboration to ensure fair competition for athletes worldwide.
