Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia discuss multifaceted cooperation PHOTO
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Saudi Arabian Investment Minister Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih have discussed multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
Bayramov and Al-Falih, who is also the co-chairman of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia, had the conversation on December 19 as part of the latter’s visit to Baku, Caliber.Az reports, citing the ministry.
At the meeting, it was emphasized that the development of bilateral relations was at a high level, and satisfaction was expressed with the extensive cooperation in economic and commercial, investment, agriculture, energy, development of alternative energy resources and other fields.
Bayramov pointed out that Azerbaijan attaches special importance to the development of relations with friendly Saudi Arabia and the expansion of cooperation in various fields.
The Azerbaijani top diplomat stated that in addition to the bilateral partnership between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia, there is useful cooperation in regional and international formats, adding that the two countries continue to support each other within the framework of a number of organizations.
It was stressed that Azerbaijan highly appreciates Saudi Arabia’s support to its territorial integrity and sovereignty, especially within the framework of the UN and OIC.
The minister noted the opportunities for cooperation in the fields of energy, agriculture and tourism as priority areas of economic cooperation, emphasising that Azerbaijan has great potential for the development of alternative energy, especially wind energy.
The meeting of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia was successfully held and the importance of business forums between the two countries was noted.
There was a discussion about the large-scale restoration and construction work on Azerbaijan’s liberated territories and the possibilities of cooperation with Saudi Arabia in this direction.
In turn, Al-Falih, appreciated the work done and the achievements made during the visit to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan. Noting that there are investors in Saudi Arabia who are interested in investing in energy, especially "green energy", agriculture, and eco-tourism, the minister pointed out that Saudi Arabia attaches importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan in all fields.
At the meeting, the parties also exchanged views on issues on the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, as well as regional developments.
