Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia strengthening energy partnership PHOTO
Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia have signed documents aimed at strengthening their energy partnership.
A meeting was held on May 3 between Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and a delegation headed by Saudi Arabian Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al-Saud, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, Report informs citing the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry.
The current cooperation with ACWA Power company on the development of wind energy projects with a total capacity of 2.5 GW onshore and offshore was reviewed at the meeting. The importance of accelerating the implementation of projects in the renewable energy sources was noted.
Following the meeting, the protocol of the third meeting of the joint technical committee was signed between the energy ministries of both countries. An executive contract for a 200 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) project and a framework contract for a 200 MW onshore wind project were also signed between the Energy Ministry and ACWA Power.
