Azerbaijan to address Russia over peacekeepers' misuse of toponyms
The Azerbaijani Parliament’s (Milli Majlis) Committee on Regional Issues will send an appeal to the Russian parliament in connection with the use of incorrect toponyms on the Azerbaijani territories where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily deployed.
According to Report, the statement was made by Committee chairman Siyavush Novruzov, a member of the Milli Majlis, at the plenary session of the parliament.
The Azerbaijani Defence Ministry has called multiple times on the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent temporarily stationed on the Azerbaijani territory to indicate the names of settlements in Azerbaijan with the correct toponyms.
However, the peacekeepers’ command is still using the Armenian toponyms to refer to the Azerbaijani settlements.
