Azerbaijan to release bezoar goats, red deer to liberated lands
Azerbaijan plans to release bezoar goats and red deer to territories liberated from Armenia's decades-long occupation in 2020.
The statement came from Biodiversity Protection Service Head Firuddin Aliyev, APA reports.
According to him, this is done to restore the populations of some animal species that lived in the past or were exterminated by enemies in this territory.
"During these events, bezoar goats and red deer listed in the Red Book will be released on the territory. Gazelles released into nature in this area have already been observed on the territory of the Fuzuli district. This indicates that they have already fully adapted to the terrain," he said.
"In October 2022, 33 gazelles were released into the territory of the liberated Jabrayil district. It is planned to continue these activities in 2023," he said.
