ANAMA’s 2025 demining operation secures nearly 70,000 hectares Annual report
The Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) has published its annual report detailing demining operations carried out in territories liberated from occupation throughout 2025.
ANAMA confirmed that during the past year, demining teams detected and neutralized 4,963 anti-personnel mines, 1,861 anti-tank mines, and 52,392 unexploded ordnance items across multiple districts, including Tartar, Aghdara, Kalbajar, Aghdam, Khojaly, Khojavand, Lachin, Shusha, Fuzuli, Gubadli, Jabrayil, Gazakh, and Zangilan, as well as the city of Khankendi, Caliber.Az reports.
Overall, the operations resulted in the clearance of 69,205.7 hectares of land, substantially enhancing safety, facilitating the safe return of residents, and enabling the resumption of agricultural and economic activities in these areas.
ANAMA highlighted that demining remains a top priority for restoring full functionality and security to Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, emphasizing both the scale and complexity of the ongoing efforts.
The ongoing demining efforts aim to secure the return of displaced persons to these areas and allow for the rebuilding of infrastructure.
Since the end of the Patriotic War, 415 people in Azerbaijan have fallen victim to landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO), including 71 fatalities and 344 injuries, bringing the total number of victims since the 1990s to over 3,400.
