Mine awareness materials were presented at an information event for families resettled in Azerbaijan’s territories liberated from occupation, as authorities continue efforts to address the risks posed by landmines and unexploded ordnance, the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons said.
The event was organised for residents who have returned to the city of Aghdam and the village of Khydyrly in the Aghdam district, as well as the villages of Seyidbayli and Badara in the Khojaly district, and Kolatag, Vangli and Hasanriz in the Aghdara district, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Held at the State Committee, the programme included video presentations highlighting mine safety, social protection measures for internally displaced persons, and the suspension of one-time monthly allowance payments for individuals who return to their permanent places of residence after three years. The committee said the videos are regularly broadcast by the media.
The committee noted that the event forms part of the First State Programme of the Great Return.
Under the programme’s action plan, relevant departments, local offices and housing and utilities agencies regularly hold educational meetings with internally displaced persons, explain legal requirements, distribute information booklets and brochures on social protection measures, and produce video materials.
