Azerbaijan, Vietnam discuss expanding defence manufacturing cooperation PHOTO
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defence Industry, Vugar Mustafayev, met with the leadership of Vietnam’s General Department of Defence Industry and the state-owned Viettel Group to discuss expanding cooperation in defence manufacturing and military technology.
The talks focused on potential collaboration across the defence sector, including industrial capabilities, workforce development, technology and expertise sharing, as well as the possibility of launching joint production initiatives, Caliber.Az reports via Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence Industry.
A presentation of Vietnam’s military products was then organised for the Azerbaijani delegation, outlining their technical specifications and operational capabilities.
Mustafayev also visited one of the factories forming the backbone of Vietnam’s military-industrial complex, where he was briefed in detail on the production process, modern technologies in use, and quality control mechanisms.
Both sides emphasised that the meetings held during the visit would contribute to the development of defence cooperation between Azerbaijan and Vietnam, the implementation of mutually beneficial projects, and the advancement of the strategic partnership to a new level.
Azerbaijan and Vietnam established diplomatic relations on September 23, 1992, and have developed a strong traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation based on trust, equality and mutual respect.
Despite geographic distance, the two countries agreed in May 2025 to elevate their bilateral ties to a strategic partnership, committing to deepen cooperation across political, economic and cultural sectors.
Vietnam’s leadership has described Azerbaijan as a key regional partner and emphasized expanding collaboration in areas of mutual interest for the prosperity and stability of both nations.
