Azerbaijani carpet triptych showcased at Vatican highlights shared spiritual heritage PHOTO
A unique carpet triptych crafted by Azerbaijani artisans under the project “Heavenly Religions” was unveiled at the Vatican during a meeting between Azerbaijan’s First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva and Pope Leo XIV.
The artwork, dedicated to Judaism, Christianity and Islam, symbolises the unity of faiths and the shared human values of peace, compassion and justice.
According to Azerbaijan’s state news agency Azertag, each of the three carpets reflects a distinct religious and cultural tradition, yet together they form a philosophical and artistic expression of harmony and mutual understanding.
The triptych embodies Azerbaijan’s rich cultural heritage and its approach to cultural diplomacy, serving as a testament to the country’s longstanding traditions of tolerance and craftsmanship.
Plans are underway for the triptych to be displayed not only in the Vatican but also in other countries worldwide. The initiative aims to promote Azerbaijan’s multicultural legacy on the global stage and underline the philosophical depth of its renowned carpet-weaving art.
