Azerbaijani delegation promotes interfaith dialogue at Brussels conference
The international interreligious conference "2025 Year of Islamic Peace in Belgium and Europe" has kicked off in Brussels, bringing together prominent religious and cultural figures.
Azerbaijan is represented at the event by a delegation led by Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Department, Caliber.Az reports referring to local media.
Also attending is Ravan Hasanov, Executive Director of the Baku International Center for Multiculturalism.
As part of the conference on March 6, the Azerbaijani delegation met with Walter Beke, a member of the European Parliament and head of the Asian Countries Group, as well as Belgium’s Minister of Health. Speaking at the meeting, Hasanov highlighted Azerbaijan’s deep-rooted multicultural traditions and its commitment to fostering interfaith harmony.
“Azerbaijan has long been a land where people of different nations and religions live side by side without discrimination,” Hasanov stated. “We actively promote mutual understanding and solidarity among various religious communities worldwide, serving as a model of peaceful coexistence. Through international forums initiated by Azerbaijan, we facilitate meaningful dialogue between cultures and civilizations.”
The Baku International Center for Multiculturalism plays a key role in these efforts, organizing global forums aimed at bridging cultural and religious divides.
The conference will continue on March 7 with a European forum titled "Models of Multiculturalism – Reflections on Building Relationships and Models of Peaceful Coexistence." The event is being organized jointly by the European Development and Research Academy (EDARA), ISESCO, the Baku International Center for Multiculturalism, and the Caucasus Muslims Department.
