On January 23, 2025, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a meeting with Turkish Ambassador Cahit Bağcı, marking the conclusion of Bagcı's diplomatic tenure in Azerbaijan.

According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry reported by Caliber.Az, the two officials discussed various dimensions of the Azerbaijani-Turkish alliance, along with pressing regional and international security issues.

Cahit Bağcı has served as Türkiye's ambassador to Azerbaijan since 2021, completing his diplomatic mission on December 14, 2024. During his tenure, he played a key role in strengthening the relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, notably by facilitating the integration of bilateral cooperation into frameworks like the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

In recognition of his contributions to enhancing the partnership between the two nations, Bağcı was recently honoured with a letter of thanks.

On December 3, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced the appointment of Birol Akgün, former President of the Maarif Foundation, as the new Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan. Akgün arrived in Baku on January 13 to assume his new role.
