At the opening of the international meeting, initiated by the President of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, Csaba Kőrösi, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the deputies who died in Türkiye and Syria as a result of the earthquake, as well as the former member of the Afghan Parliament Mursal Nabizadeh, who was killed in Kabul last month.
At the meeting, the parliamentary representatives of the member countries of the international organization discussed the problems associated with water, which is considered the most important element in the conservation of the ecosystem.
Speakers said that as a result of global warming, the quantity and quality of renewable water resources are under threat. More than 80 per cent of natural disasters that damage human life and the ecosystem are related to water.
Azerbaijani MPs Shahin Ismailov and Nagif Hamzayev took part in the discussions. In their speeches, the parliamentarians informed the representatives of the member states about the environmental terror carried out by Armenia on the historical lands of Azerbaijan, in particular, about the pollution of freshwater basins of transboundary rivers.
