The Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organisation is a regional intergovernmental organisation founded in 1992 to promote economic cooperation and development among countries bordering the Black Sea. Initially established by 11 member states—Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Türkiye, and Ukraine—the BSEC aims to foster regional collaboration in trade, energy, transportation, tourism, and environmental protection.
The organisation works to enhance stability and prosperity in the Black Sea region by facilitating dialogue and joint initiatives among its members. Its goals include creating a free trade area, improving infrastructure, and addressing shared challenges such as environmental issues and energy security. The BSEC also engages with various international organisations, aiming to integrate the region into the global economy. Over the years, BSEC has become a platform for regional cooperation and has played a key role in strengthening ties among its member states, fostering peaceful relations, and promoting sustainable economic growth in the Black Sea area.
