Azerbaijani ombudsperson condemns Armenia's ethnic cleansing policy Urges international action
On the 33rd anniversary of the expulsion of the last Azerbaijani nationals from Armenian territory, Sabina Aliyeva, Azerbaijan's Human Rights Commissioner, has sharply criticized Armenia's ongoing ethnic cleansing policy.
In her address, Aliyeva said that this policy has severely violated the fundamental rights and freedoms of the Azerbaijani people, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
She called on the international community to take urgent and concrete actions to address the injustices faced by Azerbaijanis who were deported from what is now Armenian territory. She emphasized the need for measures to be put in place to facilitate their safe return to their ancestral lands. Additionally, Aliyeva urged global actors to apply significant pressure on Armenia to correct these historical wrongs.
The Commissioner also revealed that her office has compiled comprehensive reports and video evidence detailing hate crimes and incitement to hatred against Azerbaijanis perpetrated by Armenian authorities. These materials have been submitted to pertinent international organizations to highlight the extent of the violations and seek global support for justice and accountability.
