Azerbaijani, Russian officials explore new horizons for strategic partnership
During his working visit to Moscow, Russia on April 9, Special Representative of the Azerbaijani president on Special Assignments Khalaf Khalafov discussed the prospects for strengthening the Russia-Azerbaijan relations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
In addition to discussing bilateral relations, the two sides addressed a number of pressing international and regional issues, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Russian Foreign Ministry.
A significant portion of the discussions revolved around the upcoming chairmanship of Azerbaijan in the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), scheduled for 2025-2026. The parties explored key topics related to CICA’s future development, particularly focusing on integrating the organization into the broader framework of multilateral cooperation across the Eurasian region.
Furthermore, the Russian Foreign Ministry highlighted that separate consultations were held with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, where detailed discussions took place regarding the enhancement of practical activities within CICA and the ongoing cooperation in the Caspian region.
