Azerbaijanophobia reigns in Armenia Statement of the Community of Western Azerbaijan
The Community of Western Azerbaijan condemns recent statements by several Armenian officials about the return (of ethnic Azerbaijanis) to western Azerbaijan (current day Armenia). These statements once again prove that Azerbaijanophobia is reigning in Armenia.
The statement of the Community of Western Azerbaijan reads, Caliber.Az reports.
“Allegations that western Azerbaijanis allegedly were not subjected to deportation, but left their ancestral lands, having received compensation in return, contradict all moral values.
“The proposal of the Community of Western Azerbaijan for dialogue addressed to Armenia is considered a territorial claim, which is unacceptable. The statements of Armenian officials also show that Armenia is extremely concerned about bringing the issue of returning to western Azerbaijan to the international agenda.
“We would like to remind the government of Armenia that according to paragraph 13 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, everyone has the right to return to their country. Azerbaijanis, forcibly expelled from Armenia, will persistently continue the peaceful struggle to ensure their rights,” the statement says.
