AzerGold's experts waiting for permission to monitor natural reserves in Karabakh
AzerGold's Board Chairman Zakir Ibrahimov has said that the monitoring group is waiting for permission to work at the Gizilbulag gold deposit and the Damirli copper-molybdenum deposit.
According to him, without monitoring it is impossible to provide primary information about the situation on the territory, Report informs.
“From the data received from external sources (Azercosmos, etc.), it is clear that work is underway on this territory. However, without on-site monitoring it is impossible to say how well it complies with environmental and other standards. Currently, the monitoring group, which consists of our employees, is waiting for permission,” Ibrahimov said.
The chairman also touched upon the issue of involving foreign specialists in the process.
“We have enough experienced and qualified local specialists, and they can cope with the task. In general, we have only two specialists who are foreigners and they are Turkish citizens. But their participation in the monitoring is not provided. If necessary, in the future, we can also consider the possibility of attracting foreign specialists,” he said.
It should be noted that the protest action of Azerbaijani ecologists, representatives of non-governmental organizations, activists and volunteers has been going on for seven days, demanding an end to the illegal exploitation of Azerbaijan's natural resources, ensuring monitoring at the Gizilbulag gold deposits and the Damirli copper-molybdenum deposit.
