Baku, Ankara mull strengthening military cooperation PHOTO
Azerbaijani Defence Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov welcomed a delegation led by Colonel General Yaşar Kadıoğlu, Chief of the Main Intelligence Department of the Turkish Armed Forces, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan.
Minister Hasanov emphasized the ongoing development of military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, which extends across various sectors, Caliber.Az reports.
He underscored the significance of events held within the framework of the high-level Azerbaijani-Turkish military dialogue.
During the meeting, the Turkish delegation was briefed on the successful reforms in Azerbaijan’s military structure following the country’s victory in the 44-day Patriotic War. Colonel General Kadıoğlu highlighted that the strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye is based on deep-rooted friendly and brotherly relations. He also stressed the importance of joint exercises for the mutual exchange of experience between the two nations.
The discussions focused on the prospects for further developing military cooperation and addressing regional security challenges.
Following the meeting with Minister Hasanov, First Deputy Defence Minister and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijani Army, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, also met with the Turkish delegation. The meeting emphasized the need for such engagements to deepen military cooperation and the importance of intensifying joint exercises to enhance the professionalism of both Azerbaijani and Turkish forces.
