Baku hosts international forum on climate innovation
The International Forum on Sustainable Development and Climate Innovations has commenced in Baku, organised by the British Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan (BCCA) with support from the UK Embassy, the Great Challenge Fund, the UN Representation in Azerbaijan, and John Patterson Events.
The forum is part of a series of climate dialogues leading up to the 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29), which will take place in Baku from November 11-22, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Key topics of the event include: 1) the latest innovations in business for carbon capture, energy transfer, Net Zero in construction and residential buildings, green hydrogen, and digital development; 2) ESG in transport and urban transport systems; 3) the Smart Cities Index.
Speakers include: Vladanka Andreeva (UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan), Anthony Hobley (Deputy Chair of Climate Risk and Resilience at Howden Group), John Patterson (Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan), Nigar Arpadarai (representative of the COP29 presidency team), among others.
Baku will host the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
A group of Eastern European countries has chosen Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to host COP29 climate talks next year.
Earlier, Bulgaria withdrew its candidacy to host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in favour of Azerbaijan.
The conference is being held in rotation by five UN regional groups, and Eastern Europe will take part next year.
