Baku marks 75th anniversary of Israel's independence

Baku hosted the event to mark the 75th anniversary of Israel's independence.

According to Report, Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan George Deek thanked and welcomed all the guests at the event.

Introducing Parliament Speaker Sahiba Gafarova, he noted her role in the decision, which became an important milestone in the relationship between the two countries - the opening of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Israel.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog noted in his speech that the relationship between the two countries is an example for many: "I would like to recall that the alliance between our countries against aggression, hatred, extremism, and fundamentalism, as well as for peace, democracy, and coexistence, not only in the Middle East and Eurasia but also throughout the world - can and should serve as a model of partnership between states and between nations".

"I believe it is not a coincidence, our countries are very close. The excellent relations between our countries are based not only on common interests but above all on shared values," he said.

In honour of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries and the 75th anniversary of Israel's independence, the Israeli side was presented with a carpet woven for the occasion.
