Baku, Moscow collaborate on new cruise liner project

12 September 2024 16:52

Azerbaijan's State Maritime and Port Agency has engaged in discussions with a delegation from Vodokhod LLC, a prominent Russian cruise industry leader and tour operator.

The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport shared this update with local media, per Caliber.Az.

The meeting highlighted the importance of ongoing visits, meetings, and summit events between the two nations in enhancing their bilateral relations. It was noted that strengthening this cooperation positively impacts trade, economic connections, and maritime transport collaboration.

A key point of discussion was the construction of three new-generation cruise liners, named "Karelia" 00840, which Vodokhod LLC plans to launch between 2025 and 2026. These vessels will offer cruises to ports including Makhachkala, Aktau, Turkmenbashi, Baku, and Enzeli.

The meeting also covered plans to streamline the entry and exit processes for ships at Azerbaijani ports, with input from representatives of the Baku International Sea Trade Port.
