Baku, ICESCO ink memorandum to boost cultural cooperation in Islamic world
The Baku International Multiculturalism Centre (BIMC) and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
This document aims to implement joint projects in the fields of education and culture, and to strengthen dialogue and mutual understanding in the Islamic world, Caliber.Az reports, citing the BIMC.
BIMC Executive Director Ravan Hasanov highlighted the Centre’s role in promoting Azerbaijan’s state policy of multiculturalism, which is based on shared values, on the international stage.
"The signed memorandum marks a new stage in the cooperation between BIMC and ICESCO. We believe that this partnership will help encourage cultural diversity and enhance mutual understanding in the Islamic world. Through joint projects, academic research, and youth programs, we will achieve an even broader dissemination of multicultural values," Hasanov noted.
Established in 2014, the Baku International Multiculturalism Centre is a non-commercial organisation dedicated to preserving and promoting tolerance, as well as cultural, religious, and linguistic diversity, in line with the ideology of Azerbaijanism. The Centre represents Azerbaijan as a hub of multiculturalism on the global stage and explores existing multicultural models.
Founded in 1982 and headquartered in Rabat, Morocco, ICESCO is a specialised international organisation affiliated with the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). It focuses on strengthening cooperation among its 54 member states in the fields of education, science, culture, and communication. ICESCO aims to promote cultural diversity, dialogue, and understanding among diverse peoples, contributing to world peace and security.
