Baku–Muscat talks focus on launching agro-projects in Karabakh region
Azerbaijan and Oman have discussed prospects for launching joint agricultural projects in Karabakh and East Zangezur during a meeting in Baku between Azerbaijan’s Minister of Agriculture, Majnun Mammadov and Oman’s Minister of Economy, Said bin Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Saqri, who is on an official visit to the Azerbaijani capital.
According to the information shared by the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan with Caliber.Az, Mammadov highlighted the considerable potential for expanding cooperation between the two countries.
“The minister noted that the discussions held made it possible to explore prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Oman and to establish new partnerships. The importance of strengthening ties between entrepreneurs, ensuring regular exchanges of information on export-oriented products, and exploring opportunities for mutual participation in international exhibitions held in both countries was emphasised,” the ministry said.
Mammadov also underlined the importance of forming an appropriate legal framework to support the expansion of bilateral cooperation in specific areas.
For his part, Al Saqri stressed that Oman attaches importance to broadening trade relations with Azerbaijan and increasing turnover in agricultural products.
“Proposing the creation of a legal framework to achieve these goals, Al Saqri expressed support for the initiative to sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources of Oman,” the ministry noted.
The meeting also included a broad exchange of views on potential projects aimed at the efficient organisation of agriculture in the liberated territories of Karabakh and East Zangezur. In addition, the sides discussed cooperation in fisheries, technology transfer, the exchange of expertise, and other issues of mutual interest.
